My Story

My background includes working with careful logic, organisational structure, and human complexity.

I’ve worked in computing in London (private sector, 7 years), as a vicar in Northampton (12 years), and as Director of Ministry for the Church of England Diocese of Worcester (training, strategy and support; 8 years).

I have degrees in maths (Cambridge) and theology (Durham), and a PhD connecting neuroscience, leadership and theology (Kings College London).

I love understanding more about what helps human beings flourish (and what gets in the way) – and I love helping put that into practice. For instance, I value careful thought and analysis of structure and process, and how that can help enable (or can end up constricting) spacious, imaginative, innovation, and creative, healthy individuals and relationships.

Some aspects of this are addressed in my first book, which is nearing completion: Fullness of Vision, Fullness of Life: The divided brain, improvisation, and leadership in the Church (SCM Press).

My work is centred primarily on coaching, and I also work as a trainer, pastoral supervisor, and speaker.

I grew up in Northern Ireland, and now live in Worcester.
I’m a cellist, and I love nature, walking, and the night sky.
